I Love My Home!
While on a recent trip to meet with the City of Savannah Housing Authority, we had the opportunity to meet a mutual client that had received our services under both of our programs. Entering the Savannah house built in 1896 was like stepping back in time. HopeWorks client, Ms. Guilford, told us that her mother bought the house in the early 1950’s. When Mrs. Guilford was just a baby, her father passed away, leaving her mom to raise her on her own. She explained to us, “I grew up in this house with my mom, and she was the best mom ever!” This is why Mrs. Guilford, a trained nurse, moved back into the home to help take care of her mother when she was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. “My mom had sacrificed so much for me, and it was my time to take care of her!”
Now in her seventies, Ms. Guilford finds it challenging to keep up her family home. While at the City of Savannah Housing Authority, she noticed a HopeWorks flyer that talked about our programs. She called HopeWorks and soon had a new gas furnace, gas water heater, and had her home weatherized. This is why we travel to visit these organizations. This is the value of strong connections!
HopeWorks is so glad to see that God is using our partnerships to impact the lives of seniors across this great state. YOU are one of the partners that we count on to make all this possible. Thank you for your generous support and for caring for seniors in need.
